Stack Small Table Lamp in Hickory and Barley

“The design of the Stack Table Lamp is inspired by moments from my childhood—catching fireflies and holding them in my hands, then opening my fingers just enough to let their light shine through. This contrast between the solidity of my hands and the permeability of my fingers is the same contrast at play in the lamp. The opacity and solidity of the clay is punctuated by small holes on the underside of the shade creating unexpected ways for the light to escape. The interaction of the cast shadows on the simple lines of the form, as well as the surface the lamp rests on, is where this design sparkles. Additionally, a glaze gradient is applied to the base of the lamp, to create the illusion that the light is on, even when it is not.” —Tung Chiang, Clay Studio Director.
